Ugly Houses

I see my share of ugly houses walking around my own neighborhood, but this one across the street from Helms Bakery surpasses most. It's likely the owner has built it in a style reminiscent of his or her homeland, but it is ugly and out of proportion and character with the neighborhood.

Do you think cities should concern themselves with matters of style and architecture?

That's nothing. Check out the house under construction on Sawtelle, about 2-3 blocks N of Venice, W side of street. SOME one misses the Spanish Inquisition I think, or just wants to torture neighbors and passers by.

I'll have to drive by this weekend.

If the "Inquisition House" to which "Anonymous" refers is the one at 3631 Sawtelle, it is the biggest house on the block per Google maps, yet shows 2 bdrms, 1 bath in only 1,072 sq ft, built in 1936. So all that improvement seems to have been done without bothering the City Permit people.
